This landscape is young and the plants are establishing. It’s a highly drought tolerant landscape built upon a central creek path meant to collect, store and channel water from rain events. In various spots along the rock path there are deep gravel filled sumps where water can collect and be accessed by deep rooted plants and trees near by.
Janna’s kids have each planted a garden in the raised steel planters and have taken to reading to their plants in the evening! Could there be a sweeter testament to a shift in space? From an unused and ignored side yard to a place where birds and butterflies flit about and kids read to their plants in the evenings.
